You're not lazy. Your attention is out of shape. This plan gets it back in 7 nights, with one short book and 20 pages a night.
The one rule
Swap 30 minutes of scrolling for 20 pages. Phone in another room. Same time every night.
Pick one book from the First Shelf
- The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway: short, simple sentences, impossible to put down.
- The Call of the Wild by Jack London: pure adventure, finished in a weekend.
- On the Shortness of Life by Seneca: a short, sharp read on how much time you actually waste.
- The Art of War by Sun Tzu: short chapters, easy to read a few at a time.
- Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer: a true story that reads like a thriller.
Your 7 nights
Night 1: Read 10 pages only. The goal is just to start.
Nights 2–3: 20 pages each. It will feel slow. That's normal, your focus is warming up.
Nights 4–5: 20–30 pages. Most people notice it getting easier here.
Nights 6–7: Finish the book.
When you finish
You've just proved you can still finish a book. Move up to the Second Shelf when you're ready.
